What is the Best Way to Reheat Tri-Tip?

To be honest, I have tried out all sorts of techniques to reheat Tri-tips.

But among them, the options below work best all of the time. To be specific, the grilling is the perfect one to go. Nonetheless, go through each of them to check which one works great for you.

1. How to Warm Up Tri-Tip on a Grill

Among all the methods, I found the grill one the most convenient. You only have to place the grill and start grilling right away. But, above all, I always follow some basic steps. Believe me; it’s easy to get into. Let’s look:

  1. First, place the grill in an open place for better air circulation.
  2. Take the Tri-tips out of the freezer. Afterward, give it some time to unfreeze.
  3. Place aluminum foil on the grill once the meat is in normal condition. Afterward, place the meat right on the aluminum foil.
  4. Wrap the Aluminium foil well and let it sit on the grill.
  5. Fire Up the grill to start heating the Tri-tips.
  6. Ensure you don’t burn off the Tri-tips while heating them.
  7. Cover up the meat with a shield and wait. Meanwhile, keep checking the internal temp all the time.
  8. Lower the grill heat and unwrap the meat once it’s done.

Pros

A simple option to go for. It takes little time, and you get heated Tri-tips in a few minutes.

Cons

Must control the heating of the grills. The aluminum wrapping must be in place to avoid burning up the Tri-tips.

2. How to Reheat Tri-Tip Steaks in the Oven

Whenever I want faster reheating, the only way is to reheat Tri-Tip in the oven. It always gives consistent results for my Tri-tips.

Below are the steps I always use to get fuel (and juicy) using my oven:

  1. Marinate the meat beforehand.
  2. Afterward, preheat the meat in the oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Always place the meat on the middle oven rack.
  4. Place two cups of water on the bottom rack.
  5. Now start barking up the Tri-tips. How long does it take to reheat the Tri-tip in an oven? Hence, do the reheating process for at least 20 minutes straight.
  6. Put out the Tri-tips from the oven.

Pros

Always give me consistency while reheating Tri Tip. Easy to control the temperature and avoid overheating.

Cons

Sometimes, it makes the meat dry when I don’t marinate it properly.

3. Ways to Reheat Tri-Tip Steaks in an Air Fryer

Reheating Tri Tip in air fryer units is a super effective reheating process. But, the steps needed to be accurate to have a better result. I always use the hot hair flow to fry the Tri-tip steaks perfectly.

  1. First, preheat the air fryer to 360 Fahrenheit temperature.
  2. Place the baking sheet on the tray and place the meat on it.
  3. Start the air frying process and let it go for at least 5 minutes.
  4. Once done, check the temp. It must be around 100 to 130 Fahrenheit. If the temperature is within the range, take it out and enjoy.

Pros

Air fries my Tri-tip steaks all the time. As it doesn’t use oil, my diet stays healthy each time I use the air fryer technique.

Cons

Can sometimes overheat the meat. This is why, I need to be extra alert and properly marinate the meat.

4. How to Heat a Tri-Tip in a Crock Pot

In case you are unfamiliar, the crock pot is a slow cooker machine. It’s one of my favorite options for me when I need better tender out of my Tri-tips. Let’s look closely at the steps:

  1. First, add moderate water to your meat. Doing so will make sure the meat doesn’t lose its moisture.
  2. Preheat the Crock Pot.
  3. Place the meat on the tray with the existing water. Or you could use gravy or stocks on the meat.
  4. Start the heating process by covering up the crock pot top.
  5. The reheating process should be around 3 to 4 hours.

Pros

Using the crock pot, I got the most perfect pre-heated meat inside out. Because it heats the meat for a long time.

Cons

Takes time and is not a fast cooking process at all. It’s not perfect when you have meetings or events to go to.

5. How to Warm Up Tri-Tips in a Smoker

Whenever I need a smoky flavor to my Tri-tips, I use a smoker. It provides the meat with a great smokey taste.

But at the same time, you need to maintain the heat in an optimal range. Hence, I find it a bit tricky to go. But at the same time, I got a unique flavor from the meat. Let’s learn how to reheat the smoked Tri-tip.

  1. At first, you need to open up the smoker and place the Tri-tip inside it.
  2. Keep on heating the meat until it gets around 120 to 130 F temperature. I always use the kitchen thermometer to do so.
  3. Now, remove the Tri-tips and wrap them with aluminum foil.
  4. Again, let the Tri-tips sit in their place for at least 10 to 12 minutes.
  5. Finally, you unwrap the Tri-tips and start eating it out.

Pros

I always get tender meat with a smoky taste. It’s a faster method when done in perfect order.

Cons

There’s a big chance that you might end up over-smoking the meat. Or some of your guests at dinner might not like the raw smoked flavor.

6. How to Warm Up Tri-Tips in a Microwave

I learned that re-heating the Tri-tips in the microwave is tricky. But once you know the ins and outs, it’s pretty simple. So I use a microwave whenever I need a quick yet perfect preheat.

But at the same time, the microwave can quickly try out your tindery meat. To complete it, I spray some water on top of the meat. Or you could brush on some gravy on top of the meat.

Most of all, I always needed to cut out big Tri-tips meat before placing it in the microwave. I use other methods when the meat needs to be in shape.

  1. Perfectly marinate the meat.
  2. Then, cut the meat so that you can fit the meat in the microwave chamber.
  3. Wrap it out with some aluminum foil.
  4. Set the heat to medium and start heating.
  5. Rotate and flip the meat in the middle.
  6. At the end, take the meat out.

Pros

It is one of the most convenient process to reheat steak meats.

Cons

Spreading out the microwave heat to all parts of the meat is a bit hustle. You must flip the meat in the middle to make sure it is even heating.

How To Store Tri-Tips

When storing the Tri-tips, I always prefer refrigerating them. Because in this way, you get to preserve the Tri-trips for a long time. I found out that wrapping it up with aluminum foil gives it the strongest protection. So, make sure to wrap the meat properly.

Even though some people prefer cutting the meat before storing it, I don’t find it appealing. I always avoid cutting the Tri-tips meat into smaller pieces.

Instead, keeping the meat as a whole will better preserve the moisture. Believe it or not, it’s super helpful to prevent the meat from getting drier.

Special Note : Consider adding a bit of salt to the Tri-tips meat to keep its tenderness. But, I always prefer adding lower salts as having a higher number may spoil the taste.

How Long Do Tri-Tips Last?

In short, it depends. When I freeze food such as tri-tips meats, most of the time, it lasts around 5 days. But, it’s better to unfreeze your meat and cook it up before the 3-day mark.

Even if you need to store the meat in the freezer, make sure the freezer is set to a lower temperature.

Meanwhile, you must leave the meat in the freezer if it’s been too long in the freezer. It would be best if you go for a recipe for leftover Tri-tip and create a fantastic dish before it expires.

Most probably, you are going to get a foul smell if the meat is past its prime. Plus, its texture gets melted as it goes into a bad state. I always try to avoid using spoiled meat and instead go for new ones.

Conclusion

You have come to the end of my in-depth guide on how to reheat Tri Tip. I have shown you the methods which worked for me. Shure, you could find out other methods, but these are the ones that give you the most tender Tri-tip steak.

Try out the listed methods and check which one gives you the best result. To be honest, each of the techniques has its ups and down. Don’t be afraid to try reheating your steaks.
