Can You Freeze Cabbage?
Yes, you can freeze cabbage. Whole, sliced pieces, boiled, steamed, cooked, and uncooked cabbage can be stored frozen.
Can You Freeze Cooked Cabbage?
Yes, you can freeze cooked cabbage. You can make cabbage rolls, stuffed cabbage dishes, soup, stew, salad, cabbage curry, and smoked and sauteed cabbage. It is an excellent idea to preserve your leftover cabbage.
It needs some simple preparations before freezing cabbage so that it doesn’t face freezer burn and remains good for a long time.
How to Freeze Whole Cabbage
This is how I normally do it:
- Soak the cabbage in salt water for 1 hour.
- Place it on a tray or dish using parchment paper.
- Dry them with a napkin or paper towel.
- Lastly, freeze them in the freezer.
Note : If your cabbage is huge, cut it into half and then follow the same procedure.
For freezing cooked cabbage, keep it on a paper towel or napkin, wait until it dries, and then freeze it.
To avoid clumping, Place the sliced cabbage in a plain layer and spread it on the baking sheet. Keep it in the freezer for 20 mins. After that, take out the cabbage from the freezer and transfer it into a freezer bag. Removing the extra air seals the bag. And then label the bags with dates.
You can freeze the cooked cabbage for about 6 months. It is better to store cooked cabbage in single portions using smaller freezer bags.

- Cut into small pieces.
- Season and saute the cabbage
- Enjoy the cabbage after thawing and reheating
- No extra preparation is needed before eating them

How to Keep Cooked Cabbage Stay Longer
I discovered that a vacuum sealer could help you store your cooked cabbage longer. How? It will remove all excess air from the freezer bags, and the bags will be perfectly sealed.
How to Thaw Frozen Cabbage
If I need to thaw frozen cabbage, what should I do?
Way 1: To thaw cabbage, keep it in the refrigerator overnight or at least for a few hours.
Way 2: You can also use normal water to thaw the frozen cabbage quickly. But after soaking, dry it with a clean paper towel.
Way 3: Leave the frozen cabbage outside for 1-2 hours, and it will thaw automatically. But this method may be applicable only in warm seasons.
How to Cook Frozen Cabbage
Thaw the leaves and shreds in the refrigerator for frozen cabbage before making rolls, coleslaw, cabbage salad, or something similar. On the other hand, put them directly in the pan for making soup and casseroles—no need to thaw them at the beginning.
It will make your work relatively easier. Moreover, you don’t need to worry; cabbage does not go bad quickly. It will be safe to consume longer.

- Green Cabbage: Green cabbage is the most familiar type of cabbage. It can be either light green, slightly deep green, or two.
- Purple Cabbage: At present, purple cabbage cultivation has become profitable because it has been demanded in the vegetable market. Its leaves are comparatively smoother and thicker and are primarily used in pickling and stewing.
- White Cabbage: This cabbage is not entirely white. It has pale green leaves. It is also called Dutch cabbage because it is mainly grown in the Netherlands.
- Savoy Cabbage: Savoy cabbage is another type of cabbage with a mild flavor and curly leaves. It has a lighter texture.

Yes, shredded cabbage can be frozen. Use freezer bags to keep their freezer burn-free. It makes your work easier because you don’t need t6o chop the cabbage whale using. Just thaw the cabbage out and use them according to your convenience. Convenient dishes are-
