Buffalo Wild Wings’ dry rub chicken wings are a delight to have. They have a spicy kick to them and a bit of sweetness, which makes them a delicious treat for the family. So, we came up with our own copycat recipe.

Making Copycat Buffalo Wild Wings’ Dry Rub Wings
Buffalo’s dry seasoning is the main thing that makes the chicken wings taste yummy. It is very addictive because of the mix of smoky and spicy flavors. Moreover, the wings also go great with many different dipping sauces.
The recipe is very simple, and you can make it in various ways. Just follow our instructions, and you will get mouth-watering dry rub chicken wings at home.
For this recipe, all you need is the following:
- 3 lbs of Chicken Wings
- ½ tablespoon of Smoked Paprika
- ½ tablespoon of Kosher Salt
- ½ tablespoon of Onion Powder
- 1 tablespoon of Garlic Powder
- ½ teaspoon of Dried Mustard Powder
- ½ teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper
- ¼ teaspoon of Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- ¼ teaspoon of Dried Ground Thyme and Dried Oregano
- ¾ teaspoon of Chili Powder (Optional)
- ¾ teaspoon of Paprika and Cumin
- 1 tablespoon of Packed Light Brown Sugar
- ½ teaspoon of Lemon Juice
- Olive oil, Vegetable Oil, or Avocado Oil to grease
How to Prepare the Chicken Wings
The preparation is a vital part of any dish to make it tasty and ensure that the spices go through the meat and infuse with it. So, let’s get to it!
Step 1: Take a large mixing bowl and add all the dry ingredients except for definitely the oil and chicken wings. Now, stir everything together, and this is your dry rub seasoning.
Step 2: Take another bowl and put your chicken wings in it. Drizzle some oil on top and coat the wings evenly with it.
Step 3: Now, start adding the dry rub seasoning to the greased chicken wings. Use your hands to rub all the seasonings on the chicken wings, so they get adequately coated. You can also use a wooden spoon to mix, but we found our hands work the best. Now, your chicken wings are ready to cook.

How to Cook the Marinated Chicken Wings
(a) In an Air Fryer
Step 1: Preheat your air fryer for 5 minutes at 380 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2: Lay a baking sheet in the air fryer basket and put the chicken wings in it. Make sure you keep a gap between each wing to cook evenly.
Step 3: Cook the chicken wings for 20 to 25 minutes.
Step 4: After that, check the meat with a fork. If the fork comes hot, it is done; otherwise, give it 5 more minutes to cook.
Step 5: Now, take out your air fryer chicken wings dry rub, and serve them with Buffalo Wild Wings’ Lemon Pepper sauce.
(b) In an Oven
Step 1: Preheat the oven for 10 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2: Lay an aluminum foil in an oven-safe dish and grease it with some oil of your choice.
Step 3: Now, put your marinated chicken wings in it with the leftover seasonings and cover the baking dish with aluminum foil. You can poke a couple of holes on top with a fork for a crispy texture.
Step 4: Bake the chicken wings in the oven for about 40 to 45 minutes. It will slowly become golden brown and crispy.
Step 5: Once fully cooked, take them out and serve them hot after drizzling them with some lemon juice.
(c) On the Grill
Step 1: Light your grill and bring the temperature to 360 to 370 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2: Place the chicken wings on top of the grill and start grilling as usual.
Step 3: Flip the wings occasionally to cook them evenly.
Step 4: Once they are crisp and golden after 15 minutes, use a food thermometer to check the internal temperature. If the temperature is 165 degrees Fahrenheit, the wings are well-cooked.
Step 5: Now, serve your grilled buffalo wings with your favorite sauce.
(d) On the Stovetop
Step 1: Get a deep skillet or non-stick frying pan.
Step 2: Fill the skillet with oil and let it heat on medium-high heat until the oil is very hot.
Step 3: To test the oil, you can add a bit of seasoning to it. If it starts frying instantly, your hot oil is ready.
Step 4: Gently, minding your hands, place the wings in the oil. You can also use tongs to pick up the chicken wings.
Step 5: Fry each side for 2 minutes each and put them on a paper towel afterward.
Step 6: Now, enjoy your dry rub chicken wings, deep fried!
